Cogglesford Mill – A Non-Intrusive Solution To Protect The Main Oak Shaft

D Hatcher & Sons work closely with North Kesteven District Council to provide an essential inspection and maintenance service of the historic waterwheel at Cogglesford Mill.

During our recent series of inspections over the past few months, it was identified that there was signs of minor splitting to the main oak shaft.

In order to address this issue and prevent any further splitting, a non-intrusive solution was devised using stainless steel angles bolted to each other clamping the oak shaft to stabilise it and therefore ease the loading to ensure smooth and true running for many years to come!
